Who We Are
Pedro was born and raised in Guatemala City, Guatemala. He moved to Quetzaltenango (Xela) about ten years ago to escape the violence, pollution and noise of the city. Pedro has experience in vegetarian cooking, community organizing, nutrition, sustainable development and nonprofit management. He is an invaluable asset to the organization and to the community of Xela.
Sarah Dryfoos, Director of Development
Sarah grew up in Davis, California in a neighborhood called Village Homes, a community built as a model for sustainable living. This impacted her greatly and guided her to attend the University of Oregon, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Policy. Sarah has worked in nonprofit and for profit organizations and is a long time backyard organic gardener. Sarah has worked with various NGOs in Eugene Oregon with organic gardening and Education prior to Teaching in Viet Nam. Her background in sustainable living, policy, organic gardening, teaching, nonprofit administration, fundraising and curriculum development make her an excellent director of development
